We Should Not Build a Wall Between The United States and Mexico
We should not build a wall between the United States and Mexico because we are separating families from each other and spending billions of dollars on a wall. There are thousands of people affected by this issue and are being punished for trying to be with their family. It is always an awful and heart breaking thing to hear when people get separated from their families and won't get the chance to see them for years.
Building this wall will not only cost people their chances to ever be with their family again but it will cost us billions of dollars to put up the wall. According to Trump, he claims that the wall would cost about $12 billion. Others like the House speaker, and department of homeland security say that the cost of the wall is about $15-25 billion. Therefore, they are still unsure about how much exactly the wall will cost us because of how big and tall they want the wall to be.
Not only will they have to worry about building the wall, but they have to hire more border patrol to enhance the security in case immigrants try to cross the border and get across the wall. Most likely immigrants are still going to migrate into the United States; wall or no wall. These immigrants are trying to come to the United States to have a better opportunities and improve their lives especially for their families.
It doesn't matter how big and how tall Trump wants to make the wall, the immigrants are still going to risk their lives to have another chance of having a better life. In other words, building a wall between the United States and Mexico is absurd. The question people need to thoroughly think about is if are we willing to spend billions of dollars to build a wall to separate families and loved ones from each other? And that is if they give up from not finding ways to reunite with their families.
In this commentary on president Trump's idea to build a wall on the border of the US and Mexico, Kiana first and foremost lays out her belief, which is very strong formatting because it lets readers know exactly what the author is about and what they will be reading about. Still in her introductory paragraph, she employs emotions, which I also think is a strong way to persuade because it gets people feeling and connecting with what she is saying. In the subsequent paragraphs, the author goes on to give evidence and examples supporting her claim. Since she is on the opposing side of Trump's idea, she lists many cons. In listing the negatives, she talks about not only the families that will be affected directly by the wall , but also gives reasons to why all of America will be affected. This is useful and smart because again, people will be able to relate more and are more willing to agree with an argument if they can understand how they are involved themselves. Finally, she writes about what else will have to be done that comes with building this wall and then ends by summarizing her argument. Over all, Kiana does an excellent job of constructing her argument and making it clear and concise, while still incorporating the necessary details to make her claim strong.
ReplyDeleteRegarding the argument itself, I completely agree with her claim that we should not build the wall. Besides the simple cruelty of separating families and loved ones, a wall between countries is just asking for everyone to hate America. Besides Mexico, countries all over the world will see this as a sign that we think we're too good for everyone else and couldn't possibly interact with people who aren't in America. It just generally isn't a good idea, and Kiana does a great job of explaining this.
